Luminaria illuminates our historic neighborhood, earlier this year
Riverside Avondale – For the 37th year, residents of Riverside and Avondale are making plans for their Luminaria celebrations. The Riverside Avondale Preservation Luminaria brings neighbors together as they walk along candle-lit sidewalks to socialize with friends. It is one of the most incredible events of the holiday season. A must-see.
Luminaria begins at dusk on Sunday, December 12. The earlier date is for safety considerations to ensure JSO has adequate coverage – there is a home Jaguars game on Sunday, December 19.
Some of the celebrations are familiar, some are new. Churches will have candles, live nativity, bands, and carolers. Homes throughout the neighborhood host house parties with live music and invite neighbors to celebrate the beautiful lights together. Parks have dozens of volunteers that line our parks with luminaries to bring out their best features.
By buying your Luminaria kit through RAP, you support Luminaries in our parks, churches, and common areas for all to enjoy. RAP provides Luminaria kits to line our parks and churches at no cost to them.
Luminaria kits may be purchased at the RAP office, 2623 Herschel Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, December 11 – 12 or online at www.riversideavondale.org.
