Post St. Dock – Now Open in Riverside
On June 30th, Riverside Avondale Preservation celebrated the Grand Opening of the Post Street Dock with Councilwoman Randy DeFoor, city leaders and community supporters.
Located at the end of Post Street where it meets the St. Johns River, the new dock is a floating 4-slip public docking facility which includes an ADA accessible gangway, and smooth concrete walking surfaces. It will be a regular stop on the St. Johns River Water Taxi circuit and connects Riverside to downtown. Residents now have the ability to launch motorized vehicles, kayaks, canoes, and more. The new dock is within walking distance to the best in our neighborhood: RAM, The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, Memorial Park, and independent shops and restaurants in historic 5 Points. In addition, it is a quick bike or bus ride to the Shoppes of Avondale, Park & King Street, and all of the historic district. The Post Street Dock is an incredible amenity for Riverside. It further connects our neighborhood to the St. Johns River and provides a transportation corridor between downtown and more. Next, we look forward to the opening of the Shared Use Path connecting Riverside and San Marco for bicyclists and pedestrians. And further, the Emerald Trail will connect this area to over a dozen other urban core neighborhoods. RAP is working to bring a Cultural Trail to this area that would connect hundreds of people accessing our neighborhood from the dock and more to the art and history that surrounds us via AR technology.
