Celebrating Pride in Riverside Avondale

Celebrating Pride in Riverside Avondale

For the LGBTQIA+ community, the Riverside Avondale neighborhoods have been a longstanding and supportive place to work, live and play.

In 1978, just four years after Riverside Avondale Preservation was founded, a Pride picnic was hosted in Willowbranch Park, marking what would later become the homebase for Jacksonville’s annual Pride Parade and Festival.

This month, join us in participating in some of the pride events hosted at RAM or throughout the neighborhood to learn how you can support the LGBTQI+ community as an ally and friend.

We also want to elevate the ongoing work of fantastic community partners in Riverside and Avondale that work to foster a community of pride in our neighborhood for all people.  Nonprofits like JASMYN, the AIDS Memorial Project of Northeast Florida, River City Pride and several local businesses provide resources, information and a sense of place for everyone to be their true self.
