Sonya Maness-Turner, a Kansas native, served two years as Executive Director of the historic Young Women’s Christian Organization in Laurel, Mississippi, then as a Community Builder with United Way of Northeast Florida’s 2016 Fall Campaign before coming to RAP. She grew up in a two-story Victorian, one of the first homes built along Washington Ave. in her hometown, Iola. While there are Scots-Irish, French and Spanish surnames among the ancestors on both sides, her family origins are unclear. Sonya’s mother claims, “we are a Heinz 57 mixture”.
Before moving to Florida in 2016, Sonya volunteered with Junior Achievement, served on the Board of Lawrence Breakfast Optimists and as Treasurer and Board member of Lawrence Board of REALTORS®. Her background is in psychology and theater.
