Mike is a lifelong resident of the Riverside/Avondale/Ortega area. He graduated from UF and holds a MBA from Jacksonville University. A third generation Realtor, he and his family have provided brokerage, finance and consulting services to clients since 1925. Mike renovated his first Avondale building in 1985 and he is an active investor who advises and finances clients who renovate distressed properties. He is interested in public policy and is a former chair of the Northeast Florida Assocation of Realtors Political Action and Ethics committees. Mike’s interest in history drew him to join the dive team that recovered over 3000 artifacts from the Maple Leaf, a Civil War-era ship and National Historic Landmark that sunk in the St. Johns River in 1864. Other interests include the outdoors, aviation, and antique cars. He is married to Sue Root Barker, an architectural photographer, and they have two children.
